Vision Statement

To assess the accommodation and support needs of children and young people with specific needs and to put in place a range of accommodation and other services to meet their needs.

What we have achieved to date;

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) has increased the number of directly managed hostels in the area.
Links through membership have been made with the Northern Area Supporting People Partnership and contributions made with regard to the need for a Floating Support scheme for care leavers.
An accommodation and support strategy has been developed.
The group has reviewed its remit and membership to reflect a more strategic direction in relation to the accommodation and support needs of all young people.

What we plan to do during 2005-08 includes;

Assessing the accommodation and support needs of children and young people. Areas to be addressed will be prioritised.
Maintaining membership of the Northern Area Supporting People Partnership.
Providing advice and guidance in relation to the prevention of homelessness among young people.
Responding to needs of specific client groups identified in the NIHE North Eastern Homelessness strategy.
Contributing to the involvement strategy.
