being looked after by a trust and those ceasing to be looked
after
Vision Statement
All children and young people will be provided with the
opportunity to achieve maximum emotional, educational and
social well being and to experience safe and caring environments.
What we have achieved to date;
- A number of innovative schemes to support
the education of looked after children have been developed.
- Homefirst Community Trust’s and Causeway
HSS Trust’s preparation for the forthcoming leaving
care legislation has been supported.
- The involvement of young people in an evaluation
of the Looked After Children Teacher Support Scheme was
facilitated by VOYPIC (Voices of Young People in Care).
- Local adoption services have been supported
and developed.
- Group members have contributed to a number
of UK developments.
What we plan to do during 2005-08 includes;
- Seeking opportunities to involve children
and young people including supporting VOYPIC to facilitate
them.
- Enhancing and developing fostering services.
- Ensuring children and young people requiring
residential care are able to access appropriate places.
- Ensuring the education of looked after
children continues to be addressed on an effective interagency
basis.
- Ensuring post adoptive support services
are effectively targeted.
- Reviewing Trust’s Corporate Parenting
Returns.
- Ensuring Looked After Children reviews
adopt a more child centred and child friendly approach.
- Continuing to support Trusts arrangements
for implementing leaving care legislation.
